You certainly can take your students to the gallery and show them what other people have done. However, some of the samples may be "questionable" or something you don't want your students to see.
ToonDoo is a comic-strip making web site. Students can choose characters by simply dragging them and dropping them into the slides. From there, you can choose backgrounds, postures, props, etc. Then, students can choose their preferred style of speech bubble and insert those into the comic strip. It is simple to type sentences or phrases into the strip. You can also re-size the characters, props and speech bubbles to make them fit onto each frame properly.
This site could be used to enhance Writer's Workshop or have students re-tell a story that they read. The possibilities are endless!
